Every step uses simple QR code scans. No special hardware needed — any smartphone works.
Import your current list of bike types (mountain, city, electric, kids, etc.). The system creates an UNASSIGNED item code and bulk-creates assets with printed QR labels for each bike.
Stick a QR label on a bike, scan it, and select the correct item code (e.g. "Mountain Bike 26-inch"). The register_asset activity changes the asset from UNASSIGNED to its actual type. Each bike now has a unique identity.
Set up maintenance schedules per bike type — e.g. monthly brake inspection for mountain bikes, weekly tire check for city bikes. The system auto-generates maintenance tasks for each individual asset on schedule.
Customer picks a bike. Operator scans the QR code and uses assign_custody to link that specific bike to the customer. Customer name, bike ID, and rental start time are recorded instantly.
Bike comes back. Scan the QR code and use return_custody to complete the rental. Duration is calculated automatically. The bike is immediately available for the next customer.
Walk through your fleet and scan each bike using cycle_count. Instantly identify missing bikes, misplaced units, or bikes that haven't been returned. Reconcile your physical fleet with system records.
When a maintenance task is due, scan the bike and use perform_maintenance to complete the checklist. Take a photo of the bike condition. Record brake adjustments, tire replacements, chain lubrication — all linked to that specific asset.
