ERPs repeat the lies we tell

An ERP is a ledger of assertions, not a record of events. Understanding that difference is the whole of inventory accuracy.

An ERP does not know anything about your warehouse. It knows what people have told it about your warehouse, and it repeats those statements back with a precision that they never earned.

The gap is structural, not cultural

Every field that a person types is a place where the record and the world can diverge. No amount of training closes that gap, because the gap is not made of carelessness - it is made of the distance in time and space between the event and the entry.

What to do instead

Capture identity from the item, quantity from an instrument, and context from the device in the operator’s hand. Then the ERP has something to repeat that was true when it was written.

Describe the flow: what arrives, what happens to it and what leaves. We will tell you what it takes to capture it.
